Statement on the Fifth Anniversary of Taliban Rule in Afghanistan

Five years after the Taliban’s return to power, Afghanistan continues to face severe restrictions on fundamental freedoms, human rights, women’s rights, education, independent media, and civil society. The Afghanistan Civil and Democratic Forces Network (ACDFN) calls on the international community to stand with the Afghan people, prevent the normalization of human rights violations, and support an inclusive political process based on the will of the people. ACDFN reaffirms its commitment to freedom, democracy, justice, equality, human rights, and the rule of law, and calls for a legitimate, inclusive, and democratic future for Afghanistan.
